A group of young people from Wendover are planning to visit Malawi in August of this year. Mission Malawi 08 will be a 3 week trip for around 10 people. The mission will be focused around Blantyre and the Southern Region. It will include a programme of activities over a two week period followed by a week of travelling around.
The programme is currently being finalised but activities are likely to include, helping out at an Orphanage, doing school lessons, hospital visiting and outreach. IN addition we are hoping to be able to distribute bibles recently translated into a local language for the first time. We hope to link with the ICOCA youth aids project to work with under privileged young people in the town of Lunzu.
The group will be led by Paul Hammett, a local youth leader in Wendover. "This is a great opportunity for young people to experience first hand what life is like in a country where the majority live on less than £1 a day"
Mission Malawi 08 had its opening event in January where a quiz night and sponsored fast raised £3,000. Well done to all involv...
The team are undertaking a series of fund raising activities for the trip and for Africa Link over the coming months. Please look out for information and support these activities if you are able.
