News update - March 2008

2007 was a year where Africa link was able to focus on fund raising and to re-evaluate its strategy of support for the various projects we are associated with. This has led to an expansion in the number of projects we seek to support and a formalisation of the relationship we have with a number of projects.

We have moved towards committing support over the medium term to enable the projects we support to have some certainty of income. Commitments for 2008 include –

• $5,000pa to fund a clinical officer in the tysnjane palliative care project at the Queen Elizabeth hospital. This is a 3 year commitment
• $10,000pa to ICOCA for their youth aids awareness project in Lunzu, again for 3 years

 

We hope to fund similar commitments to the Kindle orphan outreach project in the coming months.

Tim de Borde will be in Malawi in early March to see some of the projects and to look at further opportunities for Africa Link in 2008.
